family art making workshop
at Rokeby gallery, Clerkenwell
At ROKEBY gallery in April, families joined us for two hours of creative making and experienced the gallery space become a 'place to play'.
In this workshop families had the chance to explore and make their mark on the physical space of the gallery through sculpture, collage and drawing. Navigating three separate art making sections, children and carers transitioned between the ‘familiar’ and the ‘unfamiliar’, discovering and making connections along the way.
As they weaved through the gallery space, participants were invited to creatively respond and react to one another’s art making throughout the workshop. Each area had been created with all ages and abilities in mind, with themes intended to facilitate a sense of belonging and identification.
Families had the opportunity to take their art works home at the end of the workshop, as a reminder of the group experience and their time spent creating together.
ROKEBY is an independent commercial gallery for contemporary art, exhibiting work by UK based and international artists.
